Marcel Leblanc

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Marcel Joseph LeBlanc, age 79, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Reverend James Brady will be the celebrant of the Mass.

Mr. LeBlanc, who was a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Opelousas, died on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at home surrounded by his family from Multiple Myeloma.
Marcel was a partner of St. Landry Tractor Company for 25 years then spent the remainder of his life working in advertising and sales. He was a graduate of Catholic High School of Baton Rouge and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Marcel was a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church, a member of the Kiwanis Club, YamBassadors Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He shared with many friends his passion for golf and fishing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patricia Dugal LeBlanc of Opelousas son, Christopher John LeBlanc and wife Ann T. LeBlanc of Texas daughters, Jeanne M. LeBlanc of Arnaudville, Judith L. Gonsorek and husband Dennis of Indiana, and Susan L. Nicholson and husband John of Texas 12 grandchildren, Sara S. Landry and husband Keith, Allison J. Saizon, Alex J. Saizon and wife Deanna, Ashlie Rice, Jennifer Weiler, Greg Rice, II, Hillary Gonsorek, Ian Gonsorek, John Nicholson, Jr. and wife Rachel, Andrew J. Nicholson, Christopher J. LeBlanc, II , Olivia G. LeBlanc, six great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank vonPhul LeBlanc, Sr. and Josephine Charleville LeBlanc brother, Frank V. LeBlanc, Jr.

Visiting will be held in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning Monday, July 18, 2011 from 5:00 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
