Opelousas – Graveside Funeral services will be held for Mr. Manuel Pena Hernandez, Jr. at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021, in the Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, Louisiana.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mr. Manuel Pena Hernandez, Jr., age 79, on Thursday, June 9, 2021, at his home in Opelousas after a lengthy illness.  He was a native of Lubbock, Texas and was a resident of Opelousas, Louisiana for many years.  He worked as a floorman in the oilfield for many years.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his niece, Patty Holleman and her husband, Dwight Holleman of Opelousas, Louisiana, as they took care of him; daughter, Ofilia H. Gomez and husband, Benigno Gomez of San Angelo, Texas; three grandchildren: Juan Manuel Gomez, Yolanda G. Hernandez, and Angelica G. Massey all of San Angelo, Texas; three great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Folks Hernandez; brother, Santos Hernandez; sister, Josephine Hernandez; his parents and grandparents who helped raise him.
