Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mabris Guillory Deranger at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. The Reverend James Brady, Pastor of St. Landry Catholic Church, will Celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will be held in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.
Mrs. Deranger, age 87, a resident of Opelousas, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Opelousas General Health System.
A loving mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother, Mabris will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her. She worked at West Brothers and Abdallas as a sales clerk. After retiring, Mabris love for children brought her to the role as a baby sitter. She sat for Mallory and Mandy Francois, Paige and Morgan Vidrine as well as Madelyn and Andy Cerna.
Survivors are her sons, Lee Deranger and wife, Cindy, of Opelousas, La. Dennis Deranger and wife, Mary, of Opelousas, La. Donald Deranger of Opelousas, La. her daughters, Rita D. Groome of Opelousas, La. Catherine D. David and husband, Bernard, of Baton Rouge, La. her brothers, L.J. Guillory and wife, Emma Grace, of Opelousas, La. Allen Guillory and wife, Elaine, of Opelousas and her sisters, Loretta G. Cote of Baton Rouge and Emily G. Faulkenberry of Point Blue, La. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Stacy D. Carriere and husband, Blaine, of Opelousas, La. Jason Deranger and wife, Katie, of Opelousas, La. Dr. Robyn D. Daugherty and husband, Dr. Scott Daugherty, of Lafayette, La. Lauren Deranger of San Jose, California Callie Leblanc of Lafayette, La. and her four greatgrandchildren, Gracie Carriere, Aubree Carriere, Madison Deranger and Gabriel Xavier Deranger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Xavier Deranger her parents, Louis J. and Agnes Smith Guillory her sister, Velma G. Dirmann her brother, Emery Guillory and her soninlaw, Daniel Groome.
Visitation will be held at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, March 20, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
