Miss Lou, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home.
Miss Lou, as she was known to many, was a nurse for Dr. W.G. Owens for 45 years where she cared for numerous patients throughout the years. When Dr. Owens died, she retired for about six months before Dr. A.E. Williams called her and offered her a job and worked for six more years. She occasionally loved to fish with her husband, Pap. After the birth of her son, Kenny, on September 19, 1957, she spent her time caring for him and her husband. They were her life. She was a devoted wife and mother and loved caring for people. She enjoyed working in her yard with her flowers and loved cooking wonderful meals for family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Kenny Cannon and fiancé, Theresa "Cuc" Kaiser; her sisters, Thelma "Chic" Manuel, Martha Dean and Ann Bertrand. Lou will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth "Pap" Cannon; her parents, Austin Labbe, Sr. and Lawrence Thibodeaux Labbe; her brothers, Austin Labbe, Jr., E.L. Labbe and her sister, Vivian L. Labbie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Friday by Deacon Sammy Diesi. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
