Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lou Alice Vidrine at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. Reverend Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will be held at St. Landry Catholic Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Vidrine, age 84, a resident of Opelousas, La., died on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
Lou Alice Cormier Vidrine was born on March 18, 1930 and was a graduate of Washington High School. She was employed by Planters Bank and First National Bank for over 28 years. She was a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church, a lay minister of communion for over 25 years and a member and past president of the Altar Society for more than 20 years. Lou also belonged to the Catholic Daughter Court 119 for 45 years where she served as their regent for six years and treasurer for four years.
After retiring from banking, her hobbies included working in her yard. She spent many hours sewing for priests, their vestments, altar cloths and any other sewing that was needed for the priests and their churches. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
Survivors are her son, Dale Vidrine and wife, Kathy her sister, Elvie Leblanc three grandchildren, Kevin Vidrine and wife, Carmen Kyle Vidrine and wife, Christie and Kristina Vidrine five greatgrandchildren, Abby and Camille Vidrine and Caitlyn, Caleb and Cameron Richard and one niece, Jean Monteilh.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Bob Vidrine her parents, Adam and Sylvia R. Cormier her brother, Matthew Cormier her sister, Lilly Mae Castille and her brotherinlaw, Walfred Leblanc.
Visitation will be held at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday by Reverend Gary Schexnayder.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Lous name to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
