Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Loretta Guillory Cote' at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016, in the St. Landry Catholic Church. Reverend James Brady will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will held in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Cote', age 92, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA and formerly of Opelousas, LA, died on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette surrounded by her loved ones.
Loretta retired as an Accounting Clerk with the State of Louisiana after 24 years. She was very passionate about gardening, reading, western novels and crossword puzzles. She and her husband John, owned and operated the first flooring company in Opelousas, "Cote' Tile and Specialty Shop". "Yet", as she was affectionately known by her family, loved to have family over and cook for them. Loretta will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by son, Joseph Cote'; her daughters, Carol Cote' Mouton and husband, Larrey; Diane Cote'; Susan Cote' (Wilbanks) and husband, Brandon; Mary Beth Cote'; her brothers, L.J. Guillory and wife, Emma Grace; Allen Guillory and wife, Elaine and her sister, Emily Faulkenberry. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Michael Shane Cote', Kevin John Cote', Jeanne Karol Bingham, Andy Stanford, Amy Stanford Pitre, Amanda Stanford Dupre, Michael Ryan DeJean, Delaney Douglas DeJean, 7 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Earnest John Cote'; her parents, Louis J. Guillory and Agnes Smith; her son, Michael Allan Cote'; her brother, Emory Guillory; her sisters, Mabris Deranger, Velma Guillory Dirmann; her brothers-in-law, Xavier Deranger, Ervin Faulkenbury and her great-grandchild, Michael Shane Cote', Jr.
Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, November 17, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Deacon Sammy Diesi will pray the rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Friday until time of service.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Andy Stanford, Alex Stanford, Ryan DeJean, Del DeJean, Shane Cote' and Kevin Cote'.
