Lona Robertson Lassere

Funeral services for Lona Robertson Lassere will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2019 in the Julius J. "Skip" Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Homes of Opelousas. The Reverend Benny Reppond will conduct the service. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Visiting will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday until funeral time.

Ms. Lassere, age 69, who was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Opelousas, LA, died at Heritage Manor Nursing Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2019.

Lona and late husband David, loved dancing together to a variety of music, but "Swamp Pop" was their favorite. After the death of her beloved husband fifteen years ago, Lona began cruising to different destinations. She enjoyed cruises so much, some years she took multiple trips. She worked for many years at Wal-Mart as a health and beauty aid department manager until her retirement. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons David J. Lassere, Jr. of Opelousas, LA and Ricky J. Lassere and wife Lori of Grand Prairie, LA; daughter, Aimee L. Vidrine and husband Jason of Grand Prairie, LA; three sisters; four brothers; grandchildren, Ryann Melancon and wife April, Dexter Melancon, Brandon Melancon and wife Abby, Chelsea L. Robin and husband Trent, Haily Lassere, Gage Lassere and Glynn Vidrine; great grandchildren, Rielynn, Austin, Devin, Layne, Kasen, Aubrie, Lilah, Marshall, Emma Bae, Emmary, and Hazel Grace. She is also survived by her Godchild Adam Briscoe.

Lona is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, David J. Lassere, Sr; daughter, Jamie Lassere Melancon; mother and stepfather, Murtis and Neil Klootwyk, as well as her beloved Aunt, Nevist Coulon.
