Lessie Pitre

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lessie Lavergne Pitre, 101, will be held at 10:00a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2007 in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mrs. Pitre, a native of Eunice and former resident of Opelousas, died at 1:18 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at her residence in Baton Rouge.

Lessie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baton Rouge and a past member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, where she served as a past President and member of the Legion of Mary.

Survivors include two sons, Henry Pitre, Jr. and wife Lea Ray Leonard Pitre of Starkville, Miss. and Robert L. Pitre and wife Linda Van Horn Pitre of Hookset, New Hampshire; two daughters, Diana J. Pitre Savoy of Phoenix, Ar. and Jackie R. Pitre Conque of Baton Rouge; a sister, Ina Bernard of Monroe; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pitre was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Henry N. Pitre, Sr., and her parents Armand and Ora Bergeron Lavergne.

Visiting will be held at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, December 9, 2007 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and will re-open at 8:00a.m. on Monday. A rosary service will be held at 7:00am on Sunday.

Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
