Krotz Springs- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Leslie Boyd Barker announce his sudden death at his residence on Friday, August 12, 2022.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Krotz Springs on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Pastor Allen Myers will conduct the religious services.

Mr. Barker, age 70, was born to the late Leslie Herd Barker and Evelyn Davis Barker on June 12, 1952. Boyd was an avid outdoorsman who loved the feel and smell of the salty breeze from the marshes of south Louisiana. Here is where he truly became one with nature and where he enjoyed catching a beautiful stringer of redfish or speckled trout. Of course, an ice chest full of brown shrimp or blue crab would also mean that a wonderful meal, lovingly prepared by Boyd, was in store for his family.

Boyd’s heart and soul was his wife Kitty, whom he spent every waking moment that he could.

He will not be forgotten and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kitty Kartchner Barker; son Chad Barker (Lucas LaChance); daughter, Sheree Barker Sanders (Mitchell Sanders); brothers, Louis Barker, David Benoit, and Gilbert Benoit; sisters, Dinah Sylvester, Malinda Majors, and Mary Lee Barker; grandchildren, Riley Sanders, Cole Sanders, Kacey Cox, Derek Cox, and Celina Cox and last but not least, his beloved dogs, Sam and Skye.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie H. Barker, and Evelyn Davis Barker; daughter, Seslie Barker; granddaughter, Ashley Cox and his sister, Mary Mires.
