Leroy Tate

Grand Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Leroy Tate at 3:15 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016, in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Grand Coteau. Reverend Derrick Weingartner will conduct the Mass. Rite of Committal will held in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas. Visitation will be held in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, November 17, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:45 p.m.

Mr. Tate, age 77, a resident of Grand Coteau, LA, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at the his residence.

Mr. Leroy served his country proudly in the United States National Guard. He enjoyed repairing lawn mowers in his spare time. Mr. Leroy will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Odile Marie Tate; his daughter, Rebecca Tate; his brothers, Ira Tate, Wilson Tate, Joseph Leonce Tate, Nelson Tate and his sisters, Bertha Wilks and Louella Knott. He is also survived 3 grandchildren, Krystal Cormier, Justice Lemelle, Lexi Lemelle and 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler Boxie, Kane Boxie and Mason Boxie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon Tate and Yola Stelly Tate and his brothers, John Tate and Allen Tate.

Pallbearers will be Justice Lemelle, Perry Kennerson, Roger Tate, John Wilks, John Wilks, Jr. and Jeff Lemelle.
