Leroy Soileau

A Mass of Christian Burial for Leroy Soileau will be held on Monday June 23, 2014 at 3:00pm at the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Austin Leger will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will be in the Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mr. Soileau, age 84, a resident of Opelousas, died on Saturday June 21, 2014 at his residence. He was a wholesale salesman having worked at Plaisance Wholesale and Cash Drugs. He loved raising cattle. He served in the United States Army as a Master Sergeant in the Korean Conflict between 1952 and 1953.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lou Ella Soileau of Opelousas, sons, Dale Soileau and wife Gornel of Garland, Brent Soileau and wife Kathy of Washington, Timmy Soileau and wife Madeline of Opelousas, brothers, Aubrey Soileau, Harold Soileau, sister, Euna Mae Wilson all of Opelousas, 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Dillard Soileau and Mary Lavergne Soileau, daughter, Jenny Soileau Hardy.

The visitation will be held on Monday June 23, 2014 at 1:00pm at St. Landry Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited at 2:00pm and the mass will be at 3:00pm.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hardy, Kyle Hardy, Justin Hardy, Cory Soileau, Jeremy Soileau, Chase Soileau, Cody Soileau and Shannon Soileau.

The family has requested no flowers and that donations can be made to the family.

The family wants to give special thanks to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care and to his caregivers, Lynette Thomas, Brandon Thomas and Beverly Foreman.
