Leon Arnaud

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. The Reverend Gregory Simien will Celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery.

The family will receive guests at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.  A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening by Deacon Ulysse Joubert.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Leon James Arnaud, age 73, on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Carpenter House in Lafayette, La.

Leon served his country proudly in the United States Army and served his country in Vietnam.  He was the life of the party and enjoyed going to suppers and spending time at the sale barn with his friends.  He never missed the opportunity for a good political debate.  Leon loved being around people and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Diane Arnaud; his daughters, Shauntell Bertrand and husband, Nicholas and Tiffany Bernard and husband, Matthew; his brothers, Marvin Arnaud and Ronald Arnaud; his sisters, Evelyn Arnaud Kidder, Rose Arnaud Breaux, Margaret Arnaud Thibodeaux and Cecille Arnaud Dupre and her husband John; four grandchildren, Alli Bertrand, Maverick Bernard, Luke Bertrand and Huxley Bernard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Vincent Arnaud and Evelyn Marie Miller Arnaud, his brothers, Francis Arnaud, Elvin Arnaud and Lloyd Arnaud, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Bertrand, Matthew Bernard, Todd Breaux, Chad Breaux, Charles Vidrine and Preston Nations.  Honorary pallbearers will be Maverick Bernard and Luke Bertrand.
