Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial for Leo Paul Marks will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA.  Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal and interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.

Mr.  Leo died on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA, at the age of age of 87.  He was a native and a longtime resident of Port Barre, LA.  He was a U. S. Air Force Veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.  He was retired from the Air Force after serving 20 years as a mechanic.  Upon military retirement, he continued his skills and worked as a mechanic for Bordelon Ford in Opelousas for many years.  He was a longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre.  He was a devout Catholic who prayed his Rosary, read his Bible daily, and attended Mass regularly.  He was an avid reader who enjoyed books, researching information and knowledge on the computer. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge Humble Cottage No. 19 and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3496 of Port Barre.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Hardy of Port Barre; brother-in-law, Kevin Hardy and Joy of Port Barre; sister-in-law, Katrina Jennings and Preston of Port Barre; friend, Brenda Rodgers of Port Barre; a host of nieces and nephews, and his constant companion and fur baby, Jolie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ashton Marks and Iris Matte Marks; sister, Iris Faye Saizan and husband, Pete Saizan; brother-in-law, Robert Hardy, Jr.; father-in-law, Robert Hardy, Sr. and mother-in-law, Marlene Saizan Hardy; paternal grandparents, Joseph M. Marks and Antonette Kimbell; maternal grandparents, Leo Paul Matte and Eve Doucet Matte; and fur baby, Abby.

Visitation will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.  A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. in the church.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of St. Landry Home Health, Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Traditions Hospice and nurses Michelle Deville and Shandy Snyder for their wonderful medical care.
