It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lennie James Marks, age 78, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Lennie was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Army National Guard. As dedicated as he was to our country, he was equally so to the Catholic faith. He was a member of the Our Lady of Mercy Council #3409 and also served as an usher at Our Lady Queen of Angels for many years. Welding became his trade, which he enjoyed but later became a Slot Machine Technician at a Racino. When Lennie wasn't working, he enjoyed painting and fishing. He also had a passion for woodworking. One of his favorite pastimes was visiting with his family in “Little Marksville” via his golfcart, “The Magoo”. Lennie enjoyed listening to 50’s music, speaking French and pranking everyone. He had the most infectious laugh and was always smiling. He loved his wife, his daughters, and his grandchildren. They were the light of his life. Lennie will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lynn Hollier Marks; his daughters, Angela Marks Nezat (Chad) of Prairieville, La.; and Elizabeth Marks Streiferd (Robert) of Katy, Texas; and his brothers, Ralph Marks of Opelousas, La.; and Yorick Marks of Opelousas, La. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brennan Nezat (Kymber), Alexander Streiferd and Audrey Streiferd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zachary Marks, and Felicia Douet Marks; his sister-in-law, Marie Stelly Marks; and his nephew, Lynn Marks.
Pallbearers will be Chad Nezat, Robert Streiferd, Brennan Nezat, Blake Gerace, Dale Marks, and Wayne Singleton. Honorary pallbearers will be Alexander Streiferd and Bob Bertrand.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation. (https://themmrf.org)
