Lennie Rhea Parrott Buller, whose life was a testament to dedication, love, and community, passed away peacefully at her residence in Garland, Louisiana on March 29, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on February 18, 1943, in Eunice, Louisiana, Lennie grew to be a beloved figure in her community and beyond.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Lennie Parrott Buller will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, Louisiana. Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Monday, March 31, 2025, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening by the Ladies Rosary Group. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
The pallbearers will be David Buller, Brandon Buller, Brian Buller, Jason Doughty, Joe Doughty, and Owen Skinner.
Lennie devoted 31 years of her life to the noble profession of teaching at the elementary level with many years of service at Grolee Elementary School in Opelousas. She held a master’s degree, which underscored her commitment to education and the cultivation of young minds. Her students cherished her, and many recall the warmth and encouragement she imparted during her years as an educator.
A lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, Louisiana, Lennie was a devoted parishioner for over 50 years. She found great joy in participating in Rosary groups and prayer groups, where her devoted faith and connection with others flourished. The community she built through these gatherings reflected her nurturing spirit and deep commitment to her beliefs.
Lennie loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren playing in their sports events. She also relished the simple pleasures of life, often attending luncheons and high tea with her friends, creating memories that will be cherished by those who shared these delightful moments with her. Class reunions were another source of joy for Lennie, as she valued their relationship over the years.
An avid crafter, Lennie enjoyed crocheting and was passionate about tending to her flowers in her garden, where she found peace and tranquility. Her garden was not just a place of beauty but a representation of her nurturing nature.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerome “Tede” Wilbert Buller of Garland; two sons, David Buller (Regina) and Brian Buller (Heather) both of Garland; one daughter, Stephanie Buller Skinner of Lafayette; son-in-law, Jason Doughty of Garland; one brother, William Henry Parrott II (Patricia) of Lafayette; one sister, Martha Hackler of Port Allen; ten grandchildren: Brandon Buller, Shelby Veillion (Jake), Samantha Deshon, John Colby, Lenzie Buller, Logan Buller, Lillian Skinner, Owen Skinner, Joseph Doughty, and Renee Doughty; and seven great-grandchildren: Reed Buller, Aiden Buller, Liam Buller, Whitney Veillon, Elise Richard, Abigail Colby, and Elliott Colby. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Parrott, Sr. and Larry Savoy Parrott; her daughter, Karen Doughty; and an infant brother.
Lennie Buller leaves behind a rich legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to education and community. Her impact will be felt by not only her family and friends but also by all the lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
