Lenard Guidroz

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lenard James L.J. Guidroz at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Paul Bienvenu will be the celebrant of the Mass. Musical selections will be performed by Mike Totaro.

Mr. Guidroz, age 79, who was a native of Port Barre, LA, died on Friday, October 4, 2013 at his residence in Opelousas, LA.

Lenard was an avid fisherman, especially sacaulait fishing. He also enjoyed gardening and taking coffee breaks. He also loved listening to French and Zydeco music. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Mervileen Trouille Guidroz, of Opelousas, LA his sons, Darryl Guidroz and wife, Christine, of Grand Prairie, LA Jay Guidroz and wife, Penny, of Opelousas, LA Scott Guidroz of Hammond, LA Neal Guidroz and Darlynn Zeiters of Opelousas, LA his daughter, Carolyn Guidroz Thibodeaux and husband, Jay, of Opelousas, LA his brothers, Bud Guidroz of New Orleans, LA Ronald Guidroz of Opelousas, LA Kenneth Guidroz of Baton Rouge, LA Butch Guidroz of Opelousas, LA his sisters, Mildred Benoit of Opelousas, LA Gloria Totaro and husband, Pete, of Carencro, LA and his brotherinlaw, Floyd Andrus, of Opelousas, LA. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, D.J. Guidroz Nicholas Guidroz and wife, Ashley Eric Guidroz Katie Guidroz Dana Stelly and husband, Danny, II Joshua Thibodeaux Brooke Thibodeaux Celeste Zeiters and 4 greatgrandchildren, Ethan Guidroz, Benjamin Guidroz, Katherine Guidroz and AnnaLeigh Zeiters and his Golden Retriever, Lucky.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonce and Bertha Zerangue Guidroz his brother, Jimmy Guidroz and his sisters, Jane Andrus and Marie Cortez.

Visiting hours will begin on Friday, October 4, 2013, from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will resume on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
