Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lena Moran Trahan at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2015, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, LA. Rite of Committal will follow at the St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville, LA. Reverend Gary Schexnayder will celebrate the Mass.
Mrs. Trahan, age 103, a resident of Opelousas, LA and former resident of Arnaudville, LA, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA.
Lena was born on February 28, 1912 in Arnaudville, LA. She was a 1929 Graduate of Arnaudville High School. Lena loved to dance, loved working in her garden, cooking for her family and helping her neighbors. She enjoyed being around people and had many good friends throughout her life. She and her husband, Percy, owned and operated Frank's Liquor Store for 20 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lena's famous words were "Life is one big story!", "Perfect!" and "Delicious!"
She is survived by her daughter, Rada T. Bono, of Opelousas, LA; her grandsons, Keith Bono (Dana); Mitch Bono (Stephanie); Gene Trahan (Greta); her great-grandchildren, Hailey Bono, Jake Trahan, Jessie Trahan (Janel), Nicole Stewart (Austin), her step-great-granddaughter, Karen See and her great-great grandchildren, Kelsey and Janae Trahan, Brooklyn, Avery and Hailey Stewart. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Trahan; her parents, Alex Moran, Sr. and Olivia Frederick Moran; her son, Adrian Vernon Trahan and his wife, Beryl; her son-in-law, Joe Bono; her brothers, Edward Moran, Alex Moran, Jr., Elie "Black" Moran and her sisters, Jane Moran, Therese Moran and Elise Moran.
Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, November 12, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Sammy Diesi on Thursday.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the entire staff of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home for the love and care they gave "Miss Lena".
