Lena Noel

Opelousas - Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Sonnier Noel will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 2:00PM at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church with interment in Bellevue Memorial Park. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder will conduct the services.

Mrs. Noel, age 87, died at Prompt Succor Nursing Home on Monday February 18, 2008. She was a member of one of the first nursing assistant classes to graduate under Sister Marie Benedict Elaine and then worked as a nursing assistant at Prompt Succor for the next twenty five years. She was a charter member of the Lay Marinates Group and a past member of St. Landry Catholic Daughters. Her hobbies were playing bingo, dominoes and growing plants. She loved to visit with family and friends. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by 2 sons; Ellis Noel and his wife Laura of Opelousas and Felix Noel and his wife Millie also of Opelousas, 1 daughter; Helen N. Boss and her husband Melvin Boone of Opelousas and 1 sister; Ann Sonnier Vicknair of Opelousas and a daughter-in-law, Anna Lee Noel of Eunice. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Noel was preceded in death by one son; Ashton Noel, one brother; Joe Sonnier, six sisters; Emily S. Bernard, Hilda S. Speyrer, Euta S. Noel, Nita S. Quebedeaux, Enanie S. Burleigh and Lucy S. Noel, and her parents: Pierre and Leona Begnaud Sonnier, one great-grandchild; Robert Trent Lafleur.

The readers will be Monica Ardoin and Tiffany Perry and the Offertory Gifts will be brought up by Geraldine Arnaud and Doris Deville. The Pallbearers will be Blake Noel, Spencer Noel, Brady Noel, David Noel, Ronnie Taylor, Ted Labbe, Todd Menier and Bryan Boss. Songs chosen are, Amazing Grace, Old Rugged Cross, Hail Mary, How Great Thou Art and On Eagles Wings.

The family has requested that visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00PM to 10:00PM and will re-open on Wednesday from 8 AM until the time of service. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00PM.
