Lee Taylor

Opelousas - Funeral services for Norma Lee Taylor (preferred name Lee) will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at the Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church in Opelousas.  Burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Regina Hickman will conduct the service.

A public viewing will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020, in the Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Sunday at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home from 8:00 AM until the time of the service.

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that Norma Lee Taylor, age 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Lee was very involved with her community and belonged to many civic organizations and clubs.  She was a member of the Opelousas Garden Club, Opelousas Little Theatre, Louisiana Janes, Special Olympics, Girl Scouts of America, Opelousas Area Assn. for Retarded Children, Opelousas Chamber of Commerce and Christmas in April.  She received many awards and achievements from the Opelousas Garden Club Woman of the Year, Jaycee Jane Presidential Award of Honor, Jaycee Jane of the Year, Louisiana Assn. for Retarded Children Service Award, McDonald's Outstanding Service Award, City of Opelousas Service Award, Washington Garden Club Service Award, Paul Harris Fellow from the Opelousas Rotary Club and the Boy Scouts Distinguished Citizen Award.  She enjoyed working in her garden, flower arranging, helping and volunteering her time at the Opelousas Little Theatre and watching old westerns on tv.  Lee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Earl Taylor of Opelousas, LA; her son, Johnny Lee Taylor and wife, Elizabeth R. Taylor of Opelousas, LA; her daughter, Laura Taylor Marler and husband, David C. Marler of Opelousas, LA; her brother, Joseph Kermit Folks of Youngsville, LA and her sisters, Norma F. Pascual of Vidor, TX and Jeri D. Cortez of Washington, LA.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, David C. Marler, II, Jaci E. Taylor, Jobi L. Taylor and McKenzi B. Marler.

She was preceded in death by parents, Houston Folks and Mary O. Dufilho.
