Ledie Wyble Marks, 97, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021, at her residence in Lebeau.
Morrow - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ledie Wyble Marks at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter‘s Catholic Church in Morrow, La. Rev. Donavon Labbe will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and Burial will follow at St. Catherine‘s Cemetery in Rosa, Louisiana. Visitation will be held Monday , April 26, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas. On Tuesday visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and will continue at the Church until Mass time. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the funeral home.
Born September 30, 1923, in Leonville, Louisiana, “Ms. Dee“, as she was affectionately referred to by all those who knew and loved her, worked as a waitress at Stelly’s Truck Stop for more than 60 years, retiring at the age of 89. During this period she also spent much of her free time raising her eight children because her husband’s job required travel away from home. For many years, she and her children, provided a home and daily care for her brother-in-law and also for her mother-in-law.
Ms. Dee is survived by her daughters, Helen Peyton and husband Ellis of Lebeau, Janette Miller and husband Bradley of Palmetto, Geneva Cormier and husband Leston of Bayou Jacque, Sandra Barker and husband Russell of Melville, and Tee Shelton and husband Kenneth of Denham Springs. She is also survived by her sons, James Wyble and wife Theresa of Lebeau, Gary Wyble and wife Genie of Denham Springs and Wesley Wyble of Lebeau.
She is survived by three sisters, Alice Hicks, Emma Gauthier, and Laura Smith, and one brother Howard Guidry and wife Elsie. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grand children. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest G. Wyble and Louis Marks; her parents Clem and Leola Guidry; her sister Lydia Richie and her brother Louis Guidry;and grandchildren Dwayne, Mandy, John, Destry, Blaine, Miriska, Christopher and Joshua.
Pallbearers will be Paul Cormier, Mike Cormier, Phillip Cormier, Mark Cormier, Jason Wyble, and Alex Peyton.
A special thanks to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Donnie Tornblem and Nurse Assistant Tornette Scott for their compassionate and loving care provided to our mother during this most difficult time. We also want to thank our family and friends for the prayers and food provided during our time of need, and special thanks to the Lebeau Women’s Bible group and Mary Morain of Immaculate Heart of Mary PCS for their loving support and for providing for our every need.
