Lawrence Thistlethwaite, Jr.

Opelousas - Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence John Thistlethwaite, Jr., age 66, will be held Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.
Dr. Perry Hubbs will conduct the funeral services.

Mr. Thistlethwaite, Jr., a resident of Washington, LA died on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Thistlethwaite was employed for 20 years and retired from the Thistlethwaite Planting Company as ManagerOverseer. He was a member of the St. Landry Cruisers, Louisiana Farm Bureau and the Louisiana Cattlemans Association. He was a founder of the Independent Washington Youth Program. He also was named Outstanding Young Farmer by the Opelousas Jaycees in 1975.

Mr. Thistlethwaite is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Gay Moss Thistlethwaite; his son, Lawrence Thistlethwaite, III, his wife, Tara D. Thistlethwaite, and their son, Taylor John; his daughter, Lainie T. Manuel, her husband Peter Manuel, and their daughters, Lauren and Linsey Manuel; his brother, Leigh Thistlethwaite, his wife, Rhonda, and their daughter, Haley; his sister, Ludema T. Lafleur, her husband, Dr. Ronald Lafleur, and their children, India L. Andrepont, Stephanie L. Stevens, Melissa L. Duhon, Ron Lafleur and Dona L. Collins.

Mr. Thistlethwaite was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Thistlethwaite, Sr. and Eloise Ortego Thistlethwaite.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Ronnie Stanley, Ron Lafleur, Dr. Jordan Stanley, Tim Clemmons, Paul Bacque, and Brian Ortego.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Saturday, May 31, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will re-open on Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
