Lawrence Noel, Jr.

Lawtell - Graveside Funeral services for Lawrence "Boobie" Noel, Jr. will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2020, in the St. Bridget Catholic Church Cemetery in Lawtell, LA.  Father Ted Broussard will conduct the committal service.

Mr. Noel, age 61, a resident of Opelousas, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020.

Lawrence worked over 38 years for the Department of Transportation and Development and retired as the foreman of the striping crew.  He loved spending his time outdoors fishing.  Lawrence was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ellen Leger Noel, of Opelousas, LA; his mother, Eugenie "Jean" Meyers Noel of Opelousas, LA; his son, Blake Hargroder and fiancé, Melanie Henderson of Alabama; his daughter, Ashley Noel Melancon and husband, Cory of Opelousas, LA; his brothers, Gerald Noel and wife, Cindy of Opelousas, LA; and Kevin Noel and wife, Tracy of Opelousas, LA; and his father-in-law, Woodrow Leger and wife, Wedna of Opelousas, LA.  He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Stewart Hargroder, Grant Hargroder, Jamey Gray Hargroder, Sealy Ann Hargroder and Bailey Melancon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Noel, Sr. and his grandparents, Antoine Meyers, Sr. and Elbie Prejean Meyers and Noah Noel and Margaret Sittig Noel.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  A Rosary will be prayed on Friday evening at 6:30 PM.  Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 3, 2020, from 8:00 AM until 12:45 PM in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Cory Melancon, Blake Hargroder, Gerald Noel, Kevin Noel, Stanley Leger and Kirby Metrejean.  Honorary pallbearers will be Stewart Hargroder and Grant Hargroder.
