Lawrence Beard, Jr.

Melville Funeral services for Lawrence Wilbur Beard, Jr., age 76, will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home in Melville, La., followed by interment in the Beard Cemetery in Bayou Current, La. Minister Dirk Andrepont will conduct the services.

Mr. Beard was a resident of Bayou Current and passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Opelousas General Health System.

Lawrence was a member of the Local 406 Operators Union and he was also a farmer and cattleman.

He is survived by his wife, Judy, of Bayou Current, La. his two sons, Johnny Beard and wife, Kay, of Bayou Current, La. Chad Beard and wife, Evelyn, of Krotz Springs, La. his daughter, Jacintha Stevens and husband, Bobby, of Garland, La. his stepsons, Mark Bihm and his wife, Sharon, of Palmetto, La. Todd Bihm and his wife, Marilyn, of Opelousas, La. his stepdaughter, Deneen Hargroder and husband, Jude, of Port Barre, La. and his brother, M.J. Beard of Bayou Current, La. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Tiffany Mason and husband, Tony, of Krotz Springs, La. Jonathan Beard of Bayou Current, La. Gabrielle Beard, Amelia Beard, Makali Beard and Danton Beard all of Krotz Springs, La. Tasha Soileau and husband, Matt, of Garland, La. and Dominica Beard of Texas. He is also survived by 6 stepgrandchildren: Alicia and Ann Marie of Opelousas, Emerald Star of Texas Lauren, Hunter and Justin of Port Barre. He is also survived by 8 greatgrandchildren: Kimberly Mason, Meghan Mason, Michael Beard, Dilan Beard, Kassie Beard, Devin Carriere, Irisa Speyrer and Brody Schexnayder.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Marjoie Goudeau Beard, Sr. and his son, Lawrence Larry W. Beard, III.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Melville on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 until time of service.
