Opelousas- Funeral services for Larry Walter Haynes, O.D., 54, will be held at 3:00p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church in Opelousas, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Reverend Pam Roy and Reverend Dale Hensarling will officiate the services.
Dr. Haynes, a native of Beaumont, TX and resident of Opelousas, died at 2:00PM on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Doctors Hospital of Opelousas.
Dr. Haynes was a practicing optometrist who was active as a member of the Southern College of Optometry Alumni Association, the Omega Delta Fraternity of Optometry, and the South Central Optometric Association. Outside of his profession, he was a member of Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church of Opelousas where he served as a chairman of several committees. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who loved to travel. His greatest joy was when he was spending time with his wife, children, family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Habetz Haynes of Opelousas; son, William Andrew Haynes of Opelousas; step-son, Douglas Guillot and wife Leslie of Opelousas; daughter, Elizabeth Mattie Haynes of Opelousas; two step-daughters, Amy B. Schneider and husband Chad of Crowley and Melissa Fusilier and husband Brentlan of Crowley; a half-sister, Lynn Haynes Mahfouz of Natchitoches; 4 step-grandchildren, Kendra Schneider, Cameron Fusilier, Grant Schneider, and Ian Guillot.
Dr. Haynes was preceded in death by his parents, Mack William Haynes, Sr. and Violet Elizabeth Henry Haynes and two brothers Mack William Bubba Haynes, Jr. and Kenneth D. Kenny Haynes.
Active pallbearers will be Chad Schneider, Brentlan Fusilier, Ed Roy, Chuck Brunet, Randy McCormick, and Douglas Guillot. Honorary pallbearers will include, William Haynes, Randy Fontenot, and Tommy Daigle.
Visiting will be held at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, December 20, 2007 from 3:00p.m. - 9:00p.m. and will re-open at 9:00a.m. until service time. A rosary sevcice will be held at 7:00p.m. on Thursday.
