Lady Hargroder

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Lady Frances Letulle Hargroder at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014, at the St. Landry Catholic Church. Reverend James Brady will celebrate the Mass. Rite of committal will be held at the Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum.

Lady Frances Letulle Hargroder, age 74, died on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Frances was born to Mr. and Mrs. John C. Letulle in Port Arthur, Texas. She was one of nine children. She went to grade school at St. James and Bishop Byrne. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and was married to Dr. Richard W. Hargroder. She worked as a private kindergarten teacher for ten years and owned and operated Lady Frances Young Restless Childrens Store for 10 years. She also worked as a real estate agent for Century 21 DCG Aguillard for 20 years.

Frances was well known in the community for her work of charity. She sang in the choir for Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She was part of the renovation of the church statues and also the statues on the Opelousas Court House Square for Christmas. She was a member of the Jaycee Janes and held several offices. She was a member of the Opelousas Garden Club where she helped with many projects and held many offices. She also was a member of the Opelousas Chamber of Commerce. She was a docent for the Sacred Heart School. She volunteered her time at Opelousas General Health System. She was a member of the St. Landry Catholic Church, was a Eucharistic minister for 20 years and was in the altar society. She cooked for the inmates many times. She visited the sick and lonely at Prompt Succor Nursing home and gave her time to anyone who was in need.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Ty G. Hargroder, Sr., of Opelousas, LA her brothers, Cleve Letulle of Mauriceville, TX Jimmy Letulle of Groves, TX Tommy Letulle of Nederland, TX Chris Letulle of Opelousas, LA Pat Letulle of Groves, TX her sisters, Deanna Gaspard of Nederland, TX and Frankie Fisher of Nederland, TX. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Ty Glenn Hargroder, Jr., Ashely Hargroder, Emily Michelle Hargroder and one greatgrandchild, Jayden Hargroder, her beloved and good friend and sisterinlaw, Benny Hargroder, many nieces, nephews and her good friend, Roger Lagrange.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Richard Wayne Hargroder her parents, John Cleveland and Frances McCouraquadle Letulle and her brother, Weldon Charles Don Letulle.

Visitation will be held at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, October 16, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will reopen on Friday at 8:00 a.m. until service time. A Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
