Melville – A Celebration of Life service for Kenny Wayne Barker, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville, LA. Sister Roslyn Disotell will conduct the service.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. in the Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home of Melville.
Kenny Wayne Barker, Sr. was a kind-hearted person and loving father and grandfather, passed away on October 17, 2023, at his residence in Melville, Louisiana at the age of 67. He was born on November 1, 1955, in Opelousas, Louisiana. He previously worked in the oilfield for many years.
Kenny was known for his warm personality and his love for cooking, baking, and making homemade sausage bread. Apart from his passion for cooking food, Kenny had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time fishing and crabbing in the nearby lakes and rivers. He also found joy in camping adventures with his loved ones, creating lasting memories in the peacefulness of nature.
Kenny's presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever be engraved in their hearts. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He was a dedicated father who instilled values of kindness and compassion in his children. Being a grandfather brought joy into his life, and he embraced this role with open arms and an abundance of love.
He is survived by one son, Kenny Barker, Jr. and his wife, Sarah; two daughters, Casie Hayes and her husband, Dean; and Brooke Barker; his significant other, Deborah Harrington; three brothers, Patrick Hood Barker, Jr., Jerry Barker, Sr., and Russell Barker; three sisters, Effie Hilda Barker, Julia Barker; and Rose Quirk; eight grandchildren: Harli Picard, Haven Hayes, Keenan Barker, Saige Barker, Kyden Barker, Dylan Barker, Kasen Barker, Lesly Holeman; and two great-grandchildren: Daison Picard and Kevin Picard III. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Arleen Barker; his godchild, Jessica Breaux; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick "P.T." Hood Barker, Sr., mother, Julia Ann “Doo Doo” Frame Barker; three sisters, Earline Duvall, Brenda Barker, and Sylvia Tate; paternal grandparents, Elisha Barker and Effie Pierce Barker; maternal grandparents, Simpson Frame and Annie Phyllips Frame; and nephews: Cecil Duvall, Pervice Duvall, Kevin Ponthieux, and Brandon Barker; and niece, Patricia Barker.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Barker, Jr., Patrick Barker, Jr., Haven Hayes, Keenan Barker, Kyden Barker, Dylan Barker, and Kasen Barker.
