A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Kay Lafleur, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013, in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal will follow in the Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum in Opelousas. Monsignor Paul Metrejean will be the celebrant of the Mass.
Ms. Lafleur, age 72, died on Monday, October 7, 2013 at Opelousas General Health System.
Kay retired from Sams Wholesale Club of Lafayette after 25 years of employment. She was one of the original staff members of Sams Wholesale Club. She was also employed at Howard Brothers in Opelousas. Kay enjoyed traveling, reading and playing Bingo. She was a member of the Council on Aging in Opelousas. She was a former member of the Our Lady of Mercy Church Choir. Kay will be greatly missed by her family, her friends, and all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Jolene Mouret and Len Boudreaux of Carencro, LA Jacinda Doucet and husband, David, of Opelousas, LA and her sister, Johnny Bidstrup, of Opelousas, LA. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Brandon Mouret of Scott, LA Lanie Hardy and husband, Sammy, of Port Barre, LA and 2 greatgrandchildren, Sydney Stegall and Ethan Lamke.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Veranick Darbonne Carriere and her soninlaw, Butch Mouret.
Visiting hours will begin on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will resume on Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
