She received the nickname Kitty at an early age, and most people lovingly knew her as Miss Kitty.
Kittys family will celebrate her life with a Mass of Resurrection on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 12 noon at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas with the interment in Bellevue Memorial Park. Father Angelo Cremaldi will officiate.
Kitty was born on August 12, 1926 in Opelousas where she lived for 80 years. She married Dr. George Prather in 1946 and they were married for 56 years.
Kittys life was one of caring and love. She was a beautiful lady both inside and out and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was totally devoted to her family and always inspired and encouraged them to be their best. She enjoyed shopping and loved buying tee na nas for everyone. She always gave from the heart. She was a member of the Elks Auxillary , a member of the Womans Service League and the St. Landry Parish Medical Auxillary all of Opelousas.
For the last two years, she lived at Rosewood Assisted Living and Retirement Home in Lafayette. The staff there provided her with a supportive family-like environment for which her family is most appreciative. They are extremely grateful to her niece, Cindy Cuccia and to the wonderful caretakers who became part of her family: Emily Rose Chatman, Deanna Chatman, Towana Charles and Mel Cloud as well as to Dr. Leo Dealvare for his years off attentive care. The family appreciates the services and care provided by the nurses and staff of the SICU and 5th floor at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital as well as the Chaplain Staffs at Lourdes and Hospice of Acadiana.
