Opelousas - A Celebration of Life Service for Kathleen Fisher Fall will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel of Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Reverend Perry Hubbs will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.

Kathleen Fisher Fall, age 98, formerly of Opelousas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, crossed the threshold of heaven on December 2, 2018 at University of MS Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi after a brief illness. She was born in Opelousas, Louisiana on October 27, 1920, the youngest daughter of Manuiel Fisher and Alberta Huckaby.

Kathleen enjoyed traveling, crafting hobbies, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and family gatherings. She took great pleasure with entertaining and planning celebrations for family and co-workers for many years. In her later years, family would wait until the last minute to announce a visit as she would overextend her efforts to host and prepare meals. Kathleen embarked on a five-thousand-mile road trip at age 94 with her daughters driving through 22 states and five Canadian Provinces to search genealogical records in Nova Scotia for her French-Canadian ancestors.

Kathleen graduated from Washington High School in Washington, Louisiana and later attended University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1941. Following graduation, Kathleen worked with the Department of Public Welfare in Abbeville, Louisiana and later in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as a field worker and supervisor for 22 years. She was also a certified teacher for English, Business, History, Social Sciences, and Health and Physical Education. She taught classes in Florala, Alabama, and White Castle, Louisiana, and retired from Iberville Parish Schools in 1971.

In 1950 Kathleen married Maurice G. Fall. They lived in Coral Gables, Florida, Florala, Alabama and Baton Rouge, Louisiana where they raised two daughters. She later moved to Brandon, Mississippi. Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Cathy Fall Hansen (Michael) of Brandon, Mississippi and Beverly Fall Nichols (Eugene) of Mooringsport, Louisiana; seven grandchildren- Jason Nichols (Sandy) of Naples, TX, Morris Nichols (Laci) of Houston, TX, Emily Hansen Weldon (Kirk) of Moss Bluff, LA , Carrie Nichols Tucker (Nathan) of Shreveport, LA, Corey Hansen of Brandon, MS, Melody Hansen Martin of Brandon, MS, Gene Nichols of Shreveport, LA; nine great-grandchildren- Harley, Kaylah, Colton, Grace, Savannah, Larissa, Abigail, Madelyn, and Preston; a niece and two nephews along with other family and friends.

She is preceded by her parents, Manuiel and Alberta Fisher, sister Elise Fisher Summers, and husband Maurice G. Fall.

A celebration of the amazing life she led that touched so many people over the years will be held on Friday, December 7th at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. Visitation for immediate family begins at 12 pm with public visitation following at 1 pm and a celebration of life service at 2 pm in the chapel.
