Funeral services for Katherine Elizabeth Quirk will be held on Wednesday April 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. The interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington. Rev. Pete Smith will conduct the services.
Mrs. Quirk, age 67, a resident of Sunset died Sunday April 3, 2011 at her residence. She was a past volunteer for Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, Rape Crisis Volunteer and a member of The Order of The Eastern Star. She graduated with a Bachelor Degree from Northeast Louisiana University and also worked as a probation officer with the State of Louisiana. At the time of her death she was working as a probation officer with the St. Landry Parish District Attorneys Office.
She is survived by the father of her children Noel Mitchell of Opelousas, son Jeffrey S. Mitchell and wife Paula of Opelousas, daughter Kimberley Mitchell Edmond and husband David of Lafayette, brother Kenneth S. Quirk and wife Linda of Salado, Tx, five grandchildren Cole Edmond, Connor Edmond, Aneil Ryan Prasad, Aryanna Prasad and Siobhan Prasad.
Preceding her in death were her parents Kenneth Joseph Quirk, Jr. and Gene Stewart Quirk.
The family has requested visiting hours be held on Tuesday April 5, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
