Karen Doughty

Washington - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Karen Lynn Buller Doughty at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington.  Rev. Fr. Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal and Inurnment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Karen Lynn Buller Doughty on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Karen was a 1990 graduate of Opelousas Catholic School and was very athletic excelling in basketball.  She earned her letterman's jacket, was selected for the All-State Basketball Team, and was a member of the Flag Corp and Rifle Corp groups.  She attended ULL and played on the Women’s Basketball team.  She graduated from ULL receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in History.

Karen loved being outdoors, was an avid hunter, and loved being around horses.  She also earned her blue belt as a student of Jiu Jitsu.  Karen was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, but she will live on forever in our hearts.

Karen is survived by her husband of 20 years, Jason Riley Doughty of Garland; her children, Joseph "Joe" Riley Doughty and Renee Christine Doughty of Garland; her parents, Jerome Wilbert Buller and Lennie Rhea Parrott Buller; her in-laws, Joe Riley Doughty and Linda Twiner Doughty; her brothers, David Buller and wife, Gina; and Brian Buller and wife, Heather of Garland; and her sister, Stephanie Buller Skinner of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Stanley Buller and Anita Savant Buller; and her maternal grandparents, William Henry Parrott and Lanny Savoy Parrott.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  A Rosary will be prayed Friday evening at 6:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue Saturday, February 12, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home.
