Opelousas- Visiting and Funeral services for Julia Mae Brown Dupre will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2019 in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, LA followed by inurnment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will conduct the service.
Ms. Dupre, age, 84, who was born in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Opelousas, LA, died at her residence.
Julia was a loving wife, mother and sister. She was actively involved in community enrichment. As the wife of a veteran, Julia and her husband were active in charity drives for the veteran’s organizations. They were also involved in feeding the homeless and needy during the holidays and throughout the year.
Julia, her husband Felix and her son Bobby enjoyed golfing and fishing together as a family. Julia and Felix also enjoyed roller skate dancing, bowling and were involved in amateur bowling championship teams. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Ms. Dupre is survived by her son Robert “Bobby” Dupre of Opelousas, LA; sister, JoAnn Brown of New Orleans, LA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Felix Nelson Dupre; her parents, Joseph D. Brown, Sr. and Mildred Alice Melan Brown; brothers, Joseph Brown, Jr, Charlie Brown, and Simon Brown; sisters, Patricia Brown, Mildred B. Lujano and Genevieve B. Conners.
