Melville - Julia Ament Sagnibene Hutchins, a devoted homemaker and a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, passed away on January 5, 2024, at her home in Bayou Current surrounded by her family at the age of 76. She was born on November 26, 1946, in Morrow, Louisiana. Julia was known for her warm heart and gentle nature. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Julia Hutchins will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Melville, LA. Rev. Fr. Henry Antony will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Cemetery in Melville.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Melville. The recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home led by Rev. Fr. Henry Antony.
Julia's family meant the world to her, and she treasured every moment she spent with them. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She adored spending time with them and showering them with love and affection. Alongside her role as a loving mother and grandmother, Julia had several hobbies that brought her happiness. She was an avid player of Bingo and Pokeno and enjoyed the thrill of those games. Additionally, Julia developed an admiration for watching boxing over the years. Julia had a great passion for life and found joy in the simplest of things. She had an undeniable affection for drinking coffee, which became a cherished part of her daily routine.
She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary for many years, and served as Past State Commander of the D.A.V.A. She was also a longtime parishioner of St. John Catholic Church in Melville, Louisiana. Julia found solace and strength in her faith. Being part of the church community brought comfort to those around her.
Julia is survived by her sons, Chandler Paul Hutchins and partner, Denise of Bayou Current; Frederick Charles Hutchins of Bayou Current; and Jason Paul Hutchins and wife, Kristy of Bayou Current; daughter, Kayla Ament Hutchins of Bayou Current; brother, Danny Wayne Sagnibene of Kansas City, MI; and sister, Shirley Morgan of Lafayette. Julia was also blessed with nine grandchildren: Cory Beard, Lance Beard, Kayla Hutchins, Chandler Hutchins, Hali Hale, Savannah Hutchins, Marley Hutchins, Jacy Hutchins, and Adalyn Hutchins, and eight great-grandchildren: John-Michael Blalock, Charles Hutchins, Brodie Hutchins, Emrie Elter, Kain Hutchins, Aurelian Boudreaux, Keli Hale, and Jackson Hutchins who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Paul Hutchins, Jr.; her parents, Angelo Sagnibene and Nolia Dupuis Sagnibene; grandparents, Frank and Angelina Sagnibene; grandfather, Clinton Dupuis; and grandmother, Azelda Lejune.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Firmin, Christopher Macip, Garrett Clark, Chandler Hutchins, Wayne “Scott” Sagnibene, and Maddox Fontenot.
Julia Ament Sagnibene Hutchins will always be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and selflessness. Her love for her family and commitment to her faith were unwavering. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that she has forever left an unwavering mark on the hearts of those who loved her most.
