Jules "Red" Ortis

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jules "Red" Alton Ortis on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, Louisiana. Jules was 90 when he entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Krotz Springs on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of service, with a recitation of the rosary beginning at 2:30 PM in the funeral home. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Anthony Mausoleum.

The Reverend Michael DeBlanc will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass.

Jules "Red" Alton Ortis was a native of Butte LaRose. He is a veteran of the Air Force. He was a carpenter and retired from the Carpenters Local 1098. After retirement, he spent his time making furniture for his family and friends.

Red will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him, loved him, and were privy to his quiet conversations.

Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Monita Reed, Barbara (Johnny) Reed Murray, Barry (Stacie) Reed, Tina Reed Fremin and Kevin (Sandy) Reed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Moran Ortis; his sister and brother-in-law, Florence Ortis Reed and Horace "Chuney" Reed; niece and nephew, Jennie Reed Adams and Ralph Joseph Reed; and his parents, Jules and Victorine Ortis.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Reed, Barry Reed, Johnny Murray, Kristopher Reed, Blake Reed, Michael Murray, Philip Fremin, Jr. and Carter Reed.

A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Reed family to the Senior Village Nursing Home and their staff. Also, a very special thanks to Kittie Hooks for her compassionate and loving care.
