Judy Duckworth

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Judith Marie Gibson Duckworth, at the age of 86, on June 30, 2020. Visitation and funeral services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 in the Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning at 10:00 a.m. until rosary time at 1:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service. Rite of committal will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington. Reverend Donavan Labbe will officiate the religious service.

Judy was born July 9,1933. She was married on May 1, 1954 to Neal C. Duckworth of Waxia. Together, they raised six children while living in Opelousas. She worked in the insurance industry with Mutual of New York for many years. She was a resident of Opelousas, but for the last 7 years, a resident of Bayou Vista Nursing home in Bunkie.

She is preceded in death by her husband Neal C. Duckworth, Jr. of Opelousas, parents, Charles & Wilda Gibson, of Washington, siblings, Ethlyn Reeves of Gretna, Cindy Quirk of Washington, C.J. Gibson of Columbus, MS, and Donald (Sambo) Gibson of Opelousas.

She is survived by her 6 children, Deborah D Aucoin & (Lonnie)of Lafayette, Claudia D. Pickett & (J A) of Morrow, Katherine (Tommie) Pickett & (Thomas) of Morrow, Neal C. Duckworth III & (Sheila) of Bryan, TX, James Ed Duckworth of Horseshoe Bay, TX, William Drew (Billy) Duckworth I & (Debbie)of Opelousas, 1 sister in law Margaret M. Gibson of Opelousas. 11 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Babineaux, Cody Michael Duckworth, William Drew Duckworth II, Matthew Pickett, Tyler Pickett, and Peyton Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be Neal Duckworth IV, Brian Buller, Lance Dupre, Court Estave, James Edward Duckworth, Neal Duckworth III and William Drew Duckworth I.
