Mary Judith Hargroder Spencer Tabor, 92, of Georgetown, Texas, went to join the Lord, Jesus Christ on August 20, 2013, following a brief illness.
Judy is survived by her two beloved daughters, Mary T. Terri Spencer of Alexandria, Virginia, and Judy Spencer Wallace of Austin, Texas grandson Chad Lane Green and wife Robin Green, greatgrandchildren Logan Lane Green and Lily Grace Green, all of Marion, Louisiana and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David S. Spencer, Jr., and second husband, Murphy Tabor her parents, Joseph Clebert J.C. and Marie Therese Hargroder three brothers, Percy, Herbert, and J. C. Hargroder, Jr. and three sisters, Elther Launey, Mildred Elter, and Anna Bell Burleigh.
Judy, as she was known to her family and friends, was born in Opelousas and was a longtime resident of Opelousas before moving to Texas in 1999. She was a career woman long before it was fashionable, having worked for the U.S. Navy during WWII and later for Greyhound Bus Lines and Abdallas Furniture Store. She retired in 1982 from Dixie Glass Company after 20 years of loyal service. Judy was an 50 year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 2483 and active at the local, district, and state level and a member of the Opelousas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution DAR. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, computer games, the occasional slot machine, and her family.

Visitation will be held at LafondArdoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, Louisiana from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. and will reopen at 9:00 a.m. until service time. A celebration Mass will be held at LafondArdoin Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, with burial immediately following in Bellevue Memorial Park.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the VFW Auxiliary 2483 in Opelousas or to the American Lung Association.
