It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juanita Dupre Stelly, age 84, on Friday, March 18, 2022.
She was born in Plaisance to the late, Harris and Elder Dupre on July 21, 1937. Juanita was very active in the church and was a Eucharist Minister at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for over 20 years. She was also very dedicated to her rosary group. On a quiet day, you could find Juanita sitting on the porch praying the rosary or watching the hummingbirds. Some of her other favorite pastimes were crocheting and gardening. When she could travel, her favorite places she was able to visit were the Grand Canyon, the Loretto Chapel, the Red Cavern and the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. However, more than anything, she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Jean Harlan Fontenot and wife, Linda, of Carencro and Francis Xavier Fontenot and wife, Courtney, of Pineville; daughters, Lisa Stelly Behrhorst, of Lafayette and Juan Ella Fontenot, of Lafayette; previous daughter-in-law, Patti Fontenot, of Alexandria; sister, Bernadese Tate, of Ville Platte; grandchildren, Chip Hollingsworth, Laurie Beth LeBlanc, Jessica Fontenot, Philip Behrhorst, Jacob Behrhorst; step-grandchildren, Malisa Neal McNaughton and husband, Lee, Alicia Rogers and husband, Dwight and John Miller, Jr.; sister-in-law; Ruby Dupre; and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elrick Stelly; parents, Harris and Elder Dupre; sisters, Ita Dupre and Raenell Dupre; brothers, Ludry Dupre and Curtis Dupre; son-in-law, Konrad Behrhorst; and sister-in-law, Gloria Dupre
