Throughout her career, Juanita made a lasting impact as an elementary teacher at Krotz Springs Elementary School for 38 years. Her passion for education shone through as she nurtured young minds and inspired generations of students. In addition to her work in the classroom, she also lent her kindness and compassion to a special needs class for 10 years, embodying the true spirit of patience and understanding.
Outside of work, Juanita was known for her exceptional talents in the kitchen. Her pies and crusts were legendary among friends and family, bringing joy to all who had the pleasure of tasting them. Every month, she would also bring cakes to the nursing home and visit with the residents, which always brought a smile to their faces. She also found solace and community through quilting with her church, using her skills to create beautiful pieces that warmed the hearts of those around her.
A devout member of the First Baptist Church of Krotz Springs, Juanita's faith was an integral part of her life. She generously shared her culinary gifts by cooking and baking for bereavement meals at the church, offering comfort and sustenance to those in need. Her heart of gold and infectious smile could light up any room, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her professional accomplishments and dedication to her church, Juanita found joy in music. She played the piano and sang for both the First Baptist Church of Krotz Springs and St. Anthony Catholic Church for many years, sharing her talents with congregations and enriching worship services with her beautiful voice.
One of Juanita’s favorite past times was visiting with her friends from her graduating class. Throughout the last 70 years, their friendship has never wavered. Whenever she was able, Juanita loved to travel. She was proud to say she had been to all 50 states.
Among her proudest accomplishments were being a member of the Eastern Star, serving on the Fire District Board, and participating in the Women's Missionary Union. These roles allowed Juanita to further contribute to causes close to her heart and make a difference in the lives of others.
