Joycelyn Bourque Soileau

Funeral services will be held for Joycelyn B. Soileau at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, Louisiana on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.  Visitation is from 10:00 AM until time of rosary.  Deacon Sammy Diesi, will start the rosary at 2:30 PM.  Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.

Mrs. Soileau, age 97, died at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home on Monday, August 21, 2023. She was a resident there for many years.

Mrs. Soileau was the Registrar at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, Louisiana from the 1960's until her retirement in the late 1980's. Her husband, Aaron Soileau, preceded her in death in 1989. She was the youngest of eleven (11) children in the Bourque family. All her siblings also preceded her in death, as well as some nieces and nephews. There were 4 Bourque brothers, Jean, Hubert, Martin and Darius Bourque. Six (6) sisters, Odile Sibille, Zulma Richard, Elise Sibille, Frances Richard, Gertrude Savoy, and Ludy Peck are all deceased also.

Mrs. Soileau is survived by two (2) daughters, Charron (Erwin) Reimer of Hernando, Florida and Connie(Gary) Mather of Houston, Texas. She leaves behind three (3) grandchildren, Sera Boudreaux of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jazmyn (Trey) Chapman of Houston, Texas and Heidi (Kelly) Driscoll of Reston, Virginia, three great grandchildren — Dru Chapman, Alex Driscoll and Lizzy Driscoll.

Family and friends are invited to sign the guest book at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home and attend the rosary and burial services.
