Joyce Ortego

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joyce E. Ortego will be held on Friday January 27, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the St. Landry Catholic Church. The interment will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park. Monsignor Louis Melancon will celebrate the mass.

Mrs. Ortego, age 80 a resident of Opelousas died Monday January 23, 2012 at Opelousas General Health System. She formerly worked for Bell South.

She is survived by her husband Carol J. Ortego, Sr. of Opelousas, sons Carol J. Ortego, Jr. and wife Marie of Gulf Port, MS, and Michael G. Ortego of Collierville, TN, brothers Gilbert Ortego, Jr. of Krotz Springs, LA, Francis Ortego of Krotz Springs and Kirtley Ortego also of Krotz Springs, grandchildren Yvette Marie Ortego of Gulf Port, MS, Chelsea Renee Ortego of Collierville, TN, Liddy Ortego of Collierville and Lainey Ortego also of Collierville.

Preceded in death by her parents Gilbert and Weveley Soileau Ortego, brother Leroy Bud Ortego and an infant daughter.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and will reopen on Friday at 9:00 am. A rosary will be recited on Thursday evening at 6:30 pm.
