Joyce Miller

November 25, 1932 — June 17, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Joyce Bergeron Miller announce her passing on Friday, June 17, 2022.

Funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, in the Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. The Reverend Darren Aldridge will officiate the service. Rite of Committal will follow at the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

The Miller family will receive guests on Monday, June 20, 2022, in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home beginning at 12:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary by Cecille Dupre and Kathy Hebert at 6:30 p.m. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m.

Joyce lived her life in service to her family. She enjoyed sewing, enjoyed music and dancing, and especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. For many years, she and her husband had a cut your own Christmas tree farm and a community pecan cracking service. Joyce always managed to walk through her life with a beautiful smile on her face.

She is survived by her son, Terry Miller and wife Janet; daughters, Shirley Edmond and husband Nelson, Judith “Judy” Ventre and husband Karl, and Marinell “Nell” Ortego; brothers, Edwin Bergeron and wife Pat and James Bergeron and wife Barbara and sister in law, Rita Bergeron. Her grandchildren, Tricia Williams, Guy Edmond, Emile Ventre IV, Marie Ventre Bacelieri, Chris Ventre, Paul Ortego II, Misty Fontenot, Mandy Patton, Daniel Miller and Sarah Miller; great-grandchildren, Dylan Edmond, Mackenzie Edmond, Elizabeth Edmond, Maya Ventre, Naomi Ventre, Cole Ventre, Cohen Ventre, Evie Bacelieri, Rocco Bacelieri, Emile Ventre, V, Luke Ventre, Alexis Soileau, Seth Newman, Logan Patton, Peyton Ortego, and Luke Ortego.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred John Miller; parents, Yves and Lillian Lalonde Bergeron; brother, Mervin Bergeron; sister, Verna Marie Bergeron; son in law, Bryan Ortego.
