Joyce Dupre

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joyce Dupre, on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington. Reverend Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Mausoleum in Ville Platte.

Mrs. Dupre, age 84, a resident of Washington, LA died on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home.

Joyce loved sewing, crocheting and tending to her garden. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family. During her years of employment with J.W. Lowes, Howard Brothers and Sam's, she received multiple employee awards. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joyce is survived by her son, Michael Dupre and his wife, Jennifer; her daughters, Gwendolyn Dupre Sorensen and her husband, Dana; Donna Dupre Mistric and her husband, Tommy; Dawn Dupre Peck and her husband, Blaine; her sister, Geraldine Veillon and her brother, Curtis Soileau and wife, Anna Belle. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Devan Dupre, Keisha Hebert, Brandon Dupre, Jeremy Sorensen, Meagan Mistric, Holden Peck, Victoria Peck and her great-grandchildren, Ethan Hebert, Avery Artigue, Bennett Hebert, Presley Sorensen, Ronin Myers, Blakely Crouchet and Liam Sorensen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Attaway Dupre; her parents, Mark and Lezima Fontenot Soileau; her daughter, Shirley Dupre; her brother, Hubert Soileau and her sister, Verdine Meche.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sorensen, Brandon Dupre, Holden Peck, Blaine Peck, Ethan Hebert and Lance Crouchet.

Visitation will be held in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will re-open on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary service will be held on Friday at 7:00 p.m. by the Immaculate Conception Ladies Altar Society.
