Opelousas Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011, at an 11:00 a.m. mass at Our Lady of Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. for Joyce Stout DeJean, age 77, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2011.
Interment will be at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas, La.
Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen, pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the service.
Joyce received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from the University of
Southwestern Louisiana and a Masters Degree in Education from Louisiana State University. She was a retired educator and a master teacher for mathematics with the St. Landry Parish School Board.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Gene DeJean one daughter, Diane DeJean two sons, Kent and Scott DeJean two sisters, Gladys Tate and Julia Ardoin and two brothers, George Stout and Harold Stout.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Valrie and Julie Arceneaux Stout three brothers, Jake Stoute, Earl Stout and Newton Stout and two sisters, Hilda Stout Joubert and Elva Stout Sonnier.
Pallbearers include Dr. Richard Tate Dr. Reginald Segar, Glenn Stout, Robert Tate, Chad Breaux and George Wayne Stout.
The family requests that visitation be observed at LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, La. on Friday, December 9, 2011, beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, December 10, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be prayed on Friday at 5:00 p.m. in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital or The American Cancer Society.
