Joseph Speyrer

Funeral services for Joseph Wilbert Beb Speyrer, age 81, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2011, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, La., followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas. Pastor Tony Lanclos will conduct services.

Mr. Speyrer, who was a native of St. Landry Parish and a resident of Del Rio, Tennessee, died on Thursday, July 7, 2011.

Mr. Speyrer served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed playing cards once a week with friends and camping. He was a member of the Opelousas Bible Church and was an insurance agent with Clyde Doucet Insurance Agency in Opelousas, La. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Zeanne Meche Speyrer of Del Rio, Tennessee his son, Mr. Keith Speyrer of Del Rio, Tennessee his daughter, Mrs. Cynthia Cindy Melancon and husband, Huey, of Del Rio, Tennessee his brother, Mr. John L. Red Speyrer and wife, Emma Roan, of Washington, La. and Mr. Huey Speyrer and wife, Jo Ann, of Lafayette, La. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Dr. Keri Melancon, Mrs. Zeanne Lanclos and husband, Chris, and Mr. Huey Chase Melancon. He also has 2 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Moise and Mathilda Meche Speyrer.
Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Monday, July 11, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
