Joseph Richard

OpelousasFuneral services for Joseph Floyd Block Richard, age 59, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church followed by interment in the church cemetery in Leonville, La. Reverend Ken Domingue will officiate services.

Mr. Richard, a native and resident of Opelousas, La. died on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the Acadia-St. Landry Guesthome following an extended illness.

Mr. Richard was employed by Tanner Services, Inc. of Eunice. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served his country during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Darbonne Richard of Opelousas, La.; three daughters, Michelle Louviere, Mrs. Ronnie Leger Jessica, and Shannon Richard all of Opelousas, La.; two sons, Travis Louviere and his wife, Debbie, of Leonville, La.; Christopher Louviere and wife, Monique, of Opelouas, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Raylin Chapman Myrna of Opelousas, La. and Mrs. Gerald Guidroz Jane of Leonville, La. and one brother, Otis Richard, Jr. and wife, Diane, of Opelousas, La. He was survived by his ten grandchildren: Andre Babineaux, Tyler Louviere, Alec Louviere, Ashley Brown, Rick Hayes, Bryce Louviere, Morgan Louviere, Eric Leger, Hunter Leger and Emily Leger; his step-father, Albert Richard of Opelousas, La.; three godsons, Dale Paul Zerangue, Ernest Bubba Richard and Jared Guidroz and he was also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, sisters in law, brothers-in-law, cousins and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thelma Stelly Richard and Otis Richard, Sr.; his brother, Dale Black Zerangue and his nephew, Chad Comeaux.

Pallbearers will be: Otis Richard, Jr., Travis Louviere, Chris Louviere, Ernest Bubba Richard, Jared Guidroz and Dale Paul Zerange. Honorary pallbearers will be: Ronnie Leger, Nathan Darbonne, Henry Junior Leger, Michael Fontenot and Andre Babineaux. Gift-Bearers will be Bridget Stephens and Paula Leger. The readers will be Monique Louviere and Ashley Brown.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home, Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2009.
