Joseph Earl Pitre, age 76 entered into eternal rest at Opelousas General Health System on Saturday, August 17, 2013.
He was born an only child to Eldron Tit Pitre and Alice Vige Pitre on June 20, 1937.
A memorial service will be held at LafondArdoin Funeral Home on Hwy. 182, Opelousas, LA on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and a rosary beginning at 1:30 p.m. The service will be conducted by Father Dan Picard and Father Austin Leger officiating respectively.
Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Prairie Ronde, LA at a later date.
Earl was a graduate of O.H.S in 1957. He worked at Bucks Exxon on Landry Street, Planters Bank and was an Auxiliary Policeman with the Opelousas Police Department. He then went to work for Schlumberger Well Service as a senior operator until his retirement in 1989. At the time of his death he was managing the Union Street Car Wash. He was very involved in the community and was on the City of Opelousas ZoningPlanning Commission. Someone once said Earl may not always be right, but he was always consistent. Anyone that knew him would have to agree.
Earl is survived by his wife of 54 years Barbara Young Pitre of Opelousas his oldest daughter, Lisa Pitre Mistric, of Opelousas his son, Scott Pitre and wife, Lynn Boudreaux Pitre, of Lafayette his youngest daughter, Tiffiney Pitre Boudreaux and husband, Lt. Frank Boudreaux, of Ville Platte and four grandchildren, Collin Pitre, Danielle Mistric, Logan Pitre and Layla Marie Boudreaux. He is also survived by one brotherinlaw, Merlin Helen Young of Richard his sistersinlaw, Deanna Harold Doucet of Moss Bluff Debbie Hugh Guidry of Opelousas a host of nieces and nephews and one special nephew, Blake Guidry. He will also be missed by his close friends, Joel Lanclos, David Tabb, his friends at Donuts Galore and his group of friends at McDonalds in Ville Platte. Earl also enjoyed spending time at Stellys in LeBeau. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
