Joseph Perrodin

Opelousas - A memorial mass for Gerald Perrodin, age 67, will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, La. Mr. Perrodin donated his body to L.S.U. Medical School.

Father Mario Romero will conduct the memorial service. Music will be provided by Sharee Hunter of Lafayette, La.

Mr. Perrodin a resident of Grand Prairie, La. died on July 29, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Perrodin had been employed as a welder at S.M.S. in Eunice, La. He was in the Merchant Marines briefly in 1962. Mr. Perrodin was a self taught musician who sang and played the guitar. He enjoyed playing the guitar for his grandchildren. He enjoyed helping the underprivileged and those in need. Mr. Perrodin was a devout Catholic who enjoyed praying the rosary, praying to Charlene Richard and visiting her grave. He loved watching EWTN and also handing out prayer booklets and religious medals to family and friends.

Mr. Perrodin is survived by his wife, Nettie Soileau Perrodin of Grand Prairie, La.; his daughters, Stephanie Arceneaux and her husband, Thomas, of Opelousas, La.; Charlotte Ravain and her husband, George, of Lafayette, La. and Karen Lavergne and her husband, Fred, of Carencro, La. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Perrodin and his wife, Lauralyn, of Sunset, La. and his sister, Debbie Perrodin of Plaisance, La. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, Courtney, Camille, John and Michael Arceneaux; Amanda and Philip Ravain and Megan and Brandon Lavergne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.L. Perrodin and Ollie Perrodin and his brother Steve Perrodin.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
