Joseph Lee Lavergne, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished member of the Prairie Ronde community, passed away on February 23, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on January 22, 1939, in Iota, Louisiana, Joseph was a man of strong values, dedication, and a heart full of love for his family and friends.
A resident of Prairie Ronde, Joseph was the proud owner of Opelousas Pump Service, where he provided reliable service and expertise for many years. Through hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, he built his business from the ground up, earning the trust and respect of his community. His passion for the outdoors and camaraderie with fellow hunters led him to serve as the longtime president of the K P Hunting Club, where he forged lifelong friendships and shared his love for nature.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Mary Gautreaux Lavergne, and their devoted children: Tammy Lavergne, Gina Quirk (Boyd), Tracy Lavergne (Chris Clarkson), Susie Reed (Chris Pitre), and Tina Ramirez (Rhett). He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Shirley Brown (Clayton) and Mable Lavergne.
He was a proud grandfather to Kristin Benoit (Chris), Scotty Boudreaux (Daniela), Stephanie Hollier (Chris), Logan Leger (Jacob), Kaitlyn Mayer (Isaac), Jenna Brignac, and Rex Ramirez. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Landon, Amelia , Benjamin, Allen, Abigail, Boyd Lane, Hunter, Kohen, Malaki, Andre, and Violet. Joseph also leaves behind numerous cherished nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lou Frank and Ethel Boone, as well as his sons-in-law, Robert (Boyd) Quirk and Tracy Allen Boudreaux.

Joseph's presence will be deeply missed, but his love, wisdom, and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He built a legacy rooted in honesty, kindness, and unwavering care for his family and friends. His generosity and integrity were evident in every aspect of his life, and his impact will be felt for generations to come. His family and friends take comfort in knowing he is reunited with those who went before him and will forever be watching over them.

A Visitation will be held for Mr. Joseph Lavergne on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:30 pm that evening, with the visitation continuing after.
