Opelousas - Funeral services for Joseph Big Joe Lavergne, age 64, will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel, followed by interment in the St. Bridget Cemetery in Lawtell, La.

Reverend Benny Repond will conduct the funeral service.

Mr. Lavergne, a resident of Lawtell, La., died at 2:10 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2008, at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas, La.

Mr. Lavergne worked at Joe Buddies Exxon in Opelousas, La. as a U-Haul rental clerk.

Mr. Lavergne is survived by his brothers, Jack Lavergne and his wife, Diane, of Opelousas, La.; Lee Lavergne of Opelousas, La.; and Jimmie Lavergne and his wife, Irice, of Eunice, La. He is also survived by 6 nephews; 1 niece; 8 great-nephews and 3 great-nieces.

Mr. Lavergne is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Yolande Latiolais Lavergne and one sister, Maire Bellard.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will re-open on Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
