Funeral service for Joseph William Bill King, age 67, will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, La. br brMr. King passed away Saturday, May 9, 2009 at North Broward Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida following a short illness. br brBill was born in Leesville, La. on July 10, 1941 and grew up in southern Louisiana. He graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute. As an adult, he lived in Germany and traveled worldwide while working for Lufthansa Airline. He retired to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he sang, painted, visited with friends and enjoyed life. Quite the epicure - he loved to cook for and entertain friends. Bill was known for his deep, lasting relationships with family and friends the world over.br brBill considered the greatest blessing in his life to be the many friends who brightened his entire life with their friendship and especially those who surrounded him with love and support during his final illness. The family is in awe of the deep commitment and service offered to our beloved Bill during this time.br brMourning his death, yet cherishing his memory are his sister, Cala Sue King Herrington; his nieces, Suzanne Niebler Soileau and her husband, John, of Opelousas, La.; Windy Niebler Willer and her husband, Groves, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Kristen Niebler Pommer and husband, Daniel, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is also fondly remembered as a beloved uncle by his great-nieces and nephews: Caitlin Joelle Soileau, Zachary Jonathan Soileau, Jonas William Soileau, Otto Simon Willer, Noelle Elizabeth Pommer and Dieter Arthur Pommer.br brHe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph H. and Theda Abney King.br brVisiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until service time.br brLaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements 337-942-2638.brbr
